McKenzie Towne Roundabout, Pedestrian Crosswalks Revisions
The Ward 12 office has been advised that the revisions of the Roundabout Crosswalks have been approved with-in this year’s Various Streets Improvements Roads budget for construction this year. Keep an eye out for this as it should take place soon.
Crosswalks and ramps are being moved back from the circle to conform to new TCA (Transport Association of Canada) guidelines. The TCA guidelines now specify a minimum distance from the outer edge of the circle to the crosswalk. This will give space for a car or two between the circle and the crosswalk and hopefully, less blocking of the crosswalk.
I am concerned about the modifications of the crossings. Now the sightlines are different for drivers. It doesn't seem to be a concern except eastbound McKenzietowne Blvd to southbound inverness Gate. All of the landscaping and bushes are too big and block the view of the crosswalk. Please confirm if this has been reviewed and if there are intentions to cut it back.
ReplyDeleteI like the changes. Provides drivers with more safe distance to stop without blocking traffic inside the circle.
