Public Art Review

In June 2012, I proposed to Council a motion to review the public art funding models across North America, specifically, the concept of a tiered approach for the level of contributions. Currently, funding for public art is calculated at 1% of the total capital costs for projects over $1 million. I believe it should be tiered: as capital costs increase the percentage devoted to public art should decrease.  Further to this, I think the policy should be revised to ensure that no project warrants more than $1 million in public art.
