Remembrance Day 2013

As Remembrance Day 2013 comes to a close on Monday let us not forget the sacrifice made by generations of Canadian Soldiers.  As many of you know, this is a very special day for me. Recognition of service and commitment from our Canadian Soldiers continues to be a cause that is very dear to me.  My Nephew, Cpl. Shane Keating was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2006.

It is little enough to ask of us who gained so much to remember the tragedy of World War I and the ultimate sacrifice made by the men and woman who served there. We must commemorate the hundreds of thousands of soldiers who fought for our country and the millions who fought for peace in the world.  We must honor the thousands of valiant and brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the sake of freedom.

Many men and woman of the Canadian Military continue to answer the call to serve their country.  Thus, tomorrow is an opportunity to acknowledge their sacrifice and hope that those who serve find strength and resolve in the support we provide them.  As well, it is important to not forget the losses and wrongs of the past.  To do so is a disservice to the memory of all who lived and died through the horrors of World War I and in all conflicts since.

Lest we forget.

Sincerely,

Shane Keating
