Major
Stoney Trail interchange getting close

Upcoming work on Calgary’s new Sun
Valley/Chaparral and Stoney Trail/Highway 22X interchange moves this important
section closer to opening.
Construction
on the interchange, taking place between September
2 and September 17, will impact travel in all directions on the existing interchange.
·
Heading north on Sun Valley Boulevard - turn
left at the existing intersection of Chaparral Boulevard SE/Sun Valley
Boulevard to the new intersection and take the second left turn to travel north.
·
Heading south on Chaparral Boulevard SE -
turn left onto Sun Valley Boulevard at the existing intersection and continue
north to make a right turn at the new intersection.
For westbound Stoney Trail/Highway 22X
traffic:
·
Heading north on Sun Valley Boulevard traffic
- exit onto the northbound ramp and merge onto Sun Valley Boulevard.
·
Heading south on Chaparral Boulevard - take
the exit ramp and make a left turn at the new intersection.
For Sun Valley Boulevard traffic:

Heading west on Stoney Trail/Highway 22X – access
the new intersection, turn right to the westbound lanes.

Heading east on Stoney Trail/Highway 22X - go through the new intersection on Chaparral
Boulevard and turn left onto the eastbound ramp.
For Chaparral Boulevard:
·
Heading west on Stoney
Trail/Highway 22X - pass the highway and make left turn onto the westbound ramp
at the new intersection at Sun Valley Boulevard.
Motorists
should use caution in this area and obey all signs, message boards, and flag
people. Fines double in construction zones when workers are present.
Southeast
Stoney Trail is a $769 million P3 project for construction
and 30-years maintenance of 25 kilometres of six-lane roadway, nine
interchanges, 27 bridge structures and three flyovers, as well as maintenance
of 12 kilometres of Deerfoot Trail between Stoney Trail SE (currently Highway
22X) and the Highway 2A junction. It is set to open to motorists this fall. Visit www.sestproject.ca for more information.

this new segment, the Alberta government has invested $1.9 billion in Calgary’s
ring road, one of many projects which deliver on Alberta Transportation’s
Building Alberta commitment. All of this work supports the economy and
increased market access by focusing on capital
plan projects
for core infrastructure and key corridors, fulfilling the Redford Government’s
promise to invest in Alberta’s transportation network.
