Dear Residents in
the 88 St. SE and Highway 22X interchange area
Re: Upcoming 88th
Street SE road closure and new access plan
As a local resident, you continue to see the work being done as
Stoney Trail/Highway 22X nears completion. You are receiving this information
because there is an upcoming road closure of 88th Street SE which
will impact you.
Local residents are advised that 88th Street SE will be
closed from 88th Street SE and Stoney Trail/Highway 22X intersection
to the private road south of Highway 22X in Calgary, effective September 6,
2013 at 12 a.m. and will be made available again on October 1, 2013. Traffic from Stoney Trail/Highway 22X SE to 88th
Street SE and from to 88th Street SE to Stoney Trail/Highway 22X SE
will no longer be permitted and alternate local routes must be used via 178th
Avenue SE and 104th Street SE. A map outlining the detour routes for
local residents is available on the subsequent page.
Motorists traveling on 88th Street SE and 178th
Avenue SE should take eastbound on 178th Avenue SE to northbound 104th
Street SE in order to connect with Stoney Trail/Highway 22X. Additionally,
motorists travelling on Stoney Trail/Highway 22X should take southbound 104th
Street and 178th Avenue SE to access 88th Street SE or
the west end of 178th Avenue SE.
A new connection from Stoney Trail/Highway 22X will be made
available on October 1, 2013 to allow access from northbound 88th
Street SE to westbound Stoney Trail/Highway 22X and eastbound Stoney
Trail/Highway 22X to southbound 88th Street SE.
Motorists should use caution in this area and obey all signs, and
message boards. Fines double in construction zones when workers are present.
